Dear Future Self, I am Sophie.C and I am in Year 6 I am 11 years old. You might think what was it like in COVID 19 so I will tell you. When it all started everyone was thinking what to do. So what they did is they got all the toilet paper from the shops and because on the news they said that we have to be stuck in quarantine. If you don't know what quarantine is when we all had to stay in our house and we could only get out of the house if we needed food, medicine and clothes. When all the quarantine was over we could see people of our family and friends and all the kids went to school but we had to social distance but that is ok. When I had to work at home It was all on the computer and I did not like It that much but when I had a worksheet to do. My mum will print it out and it will be better for me because I am not on the screen all day. After all my work I will have a brain break and I get to jump on my air mat, eat a snack and play with my sister. When all the parents had to work are called essential workers and they have to work all the time even sometimes on the weekend. When people went to the shops and got a lot of toilet paper it has got a lot more expensive so that is what happened in COVID 19 and I know that in the future it will be a bit better than what It was.

Dear Future Students, I am Amelia H and I am a Year 6 student at Glenbrook Public School. I bet you’re wondering what life is like with COVID-19, so let me share my experience with you. The beginning of COVID-19 was really weird with short stock of food and items,no school and no visiting anyone.Everyone was short for food and ended up scrounging through their pantries but for some reason people were worried about toilet paper so that was very low on stock too. I really didn’t enjoy not being able to go and see my family or go to school and see my friends but it did mean that I got to do my work at home and I didn’t have to get up early and rush around to get ready for school. Another thing I am really disappointed about is that I can't go on holiday for my mum’s 40th birthday so we’re going to have to just celebrate at home instead.I am doing lots of baking and exercise which is a good distraction. The middle of COVID-19 was the toughest part, only being able to leave home for essential reasons,so pretty much staying home all the time. Now finally we have been allowed back at school which I am really happy about because I get to see my friends and get out of my house. COVID-19 has really changed my outlook on life. It has taught me to be grateful for everything we have. It has also taught me to take life as it comes because you never know what is just around the corner especially considering we’ve just had floods, fires and now this. This time has been very tough but we’re getting through it and we’re coming out stronger. By Amelia H

Dear Future people, This is a letter from 2020. I was in Year Six when it happened in a school up in the Blue Mountains. Everybody was making jokes like if you cough you instantly have corona it was funny. Then there was a rumour that school was going to shut down. I thought it was going to be a holiday basically so I loved corona for that but then when the teachers started saying it was going to shut down they showed us this website called Google Classroom so we had to do work while we were at home. I knew it would be too good to be true if it was like a holiday and deep down i knew they wouldn't let that happen. After a while at home I never thought I could say this but I was really missing school not the learning part but my friends like I started having dreams of just sitting down talking to my friends and they were the best dreams I've had for ages that's concerning. With online school I finished it in like 2 hours and then I was just sitting there waiting for a new task to pop up that was boring. But it was good because you could have a proper lunch instead of a sandwich and when I was finished and waiting for new tasks I could watch Netflix or listen to music. Once I came back it felt so good to hang out with the boys. And I could ride my bike with them again but the work was better in online school. So now if I hate school at one point I can remember I missed it when I didn't go. Thank you Cruz.s

Glenbrook PS 8 Woodville St Glenbrook 2773 28/5/2020 Dear Future Reader, My name is George F. I’m an 11 year old Year Six student at Glenbrook Public School. I am writing to contemplate the COVID-19 pandemic of 2020. This period of time was long and hard. I deeply hope that in the future there will be no time like this time. Every night on the news, Peter Overton would always address the watchers with “Good evening. There have been more cases of COVID-19 over the past 24 hours…” It was scary. People acted as if it was the apocalypse and most of the toilet paper was gone within 48 hours. There was a long, tedious mid-pandemic lockdown where people were not allowed to leave their homes unless it was for exercise or essential shopping. So many people were dying, and it was just really, really, really awful… To start with, nobody knew what COVID-19 was or what it could become. The WHO (World Health Organisation) released a social media post declaring that no human transmission had been detected. And then the outbreak started. It started in a Wuhan wet market (or so we’ve been told) and from there it spread like wildfire, all around the world so, so fast… The shops were just crazy. You could not walk in or out of the shops without bumping into somebody, and if you managed to make it inside, there would be almost nothing left for anybody to buy. And people just HOARDED the toilet paper. You could not leave your house unless you were going shopping or you were out for exercise so there wasn’t much to look forward to… 103 deaths a couple of days ago. And it's not over yet...

Dear Future Reader,, You must be wondering how things were in the time of COVID-19. (corona virus). things were CRAZY! My name is Ella. M and I am a Year 6 student at Glenbrook Public School. I am going to tell you about how things were in this insane time. There were 3 major stages. In the beginning stage things were wild! Everyone was stockpiling and filling up they're cupboards because no one knew what was going to happen! The biggest issue though, was TOILET PAPER! Weird right? I wonder why toilet paper was such a big deal. The shelves were empty of it Everywhere! Anyway, schools shut down suddenly and you were only allowed to leave your home for exercise, essential supplies or for medical reasons. It was crazy. The second stage went on for about 6 weeks. We were only allowed to leave our house occasionally. We still had to do school :(. it was hard. I just seemed to go on forever and ever. I did all my schoolwork. (my mum made me). But it wasn't all bad. My family bonded together. We made lots of yummy treats. Plus we went out most afternoons and ran around the oval with the dog! My dad even came back with a packet of toilet paper once!! The last stage is what we are witnessing at the moment. We all came back to school. Sport and out of school activities are opening up again. Plus, We are allowed to have gatherings of up to 10 people! We are all getting through this as a community and I hope things are well as you are reading this! Regards: Ella

Dear Future Self, My name is Lexi H and I'm an eleven year old girl in Year Six in Glenbrook Public School. The world pandemic, Coronavirus started in 2019 and carried on to 2020. On this day they report 346,000 deaths. In 2019 China identified a new virus, then days later there were dozens of cases in Asia and it just kept spreading. The first death was on January 11 in China. He was a 61 year old man in Wuhan, he died just before one of the biggest holidays in China. The next confirmed case was in the United States in the state of Washington. He was a man in his 30’s. COVID-19 Had us working very differently. At the beginning of COVID-19 We all went to school, But as it started getting worse we had to do online work. We used Google Classroom and Zoom for it. After we had a few weeks of online work we started going back once a week. I went on Friday so I got to do some of the jobs! After a week of that we went back full time. We are still doing some online work but most of it is in our books. During this world wide pandemic I've learnt lots of things. We all miss and need to go to school to have fun and learn. When we see family and friends we need to have fun and not argue and that I just went through a worldwide pandemic which will turn into history! Yes COVID-19 was a hard time but it's over now or that's what we think. Sincerely, Lexi H.

Dear Future Self, My name is Luca. M and I am a Year 6 student at Glenbrook Public School. This year has probably been the hardest year yet because of the Fires, Drought and CoronaVirus/Covid-19. It has been so hard because you had to stay at home a lot during COVID-19. You couldn’t see any friends or family, especially grandparents. They can get really sick and could die. While you where in lockdown you need to wash your hand a lot so you wont get anyone else in your family sick. But then everyone was doing the rules and then you could go back to school and you could see your friends and family. You could even see your grandparents but you needed to be a metre apart from anyone. During drought it was really hard because you could only you’se a certain number of water. There was no rain for days or even months. Australia was running low on food and the farmers were doing their best to produce food. The bush Fires were started by the heat and because there was no rain and the fires were out of control. There were over 70,000 firefighters fighting the fires and lots of them died. COVID-19 was very bad because most of the people lost their jobs so it was hard for the adults to make money. There was a lot of soap that had to be used. It was hard for me because I couldn't see most of my family and me, my dad and my sister were supposed to go to Germany for a month and I was excited but when the news said we couldn’t go anywhere I was sad.

Dear Future Self, My name is Ivy K and I am a Year Six student at Glenbrook Public School. This letter is about the coronavirus pandemic and how I felt about it. The coronavirus started in China in 2019. Back then I wasn’t so worried that it would reach Australia since it was all the way in Asia. But unfortunately it has and we have had 103 deaths in all. In the world there have been 346,000. Lockdown started on the 31st of March 2020 for NSW. I continued to go to school until students could only go if their parents were essential workers. My dad stays at home so I couldn’t go to school. School online was really hard but eventually it stopped. My teacher would put tasks on Google Classroom and I would complete them during the day. As I write this I feel relieved, for the number of cases in NSW and Australia are slowly going down. Going through COVID-19 is hard but not being able to see friends and family for a long time is even harder. Coronavirus restrictions are full on and I've had to stay in my house for a long time. Over all I have become a stronger person and am now able to deal with mixed emotions a lot better. Sadness, anxiety and anger are emotions that we all feel, and a common one for most people during the coronavirus pandemic. I have learnt that school isn’t actually total boredom but a place where I can learn and have fun.

Dear Future Readers, My name is Eloise K and I am 11 years old and a Year 6 student at Glenbrook Public School. I am writing this letter to talk about my experience of COVID-19. It was a very long journey and I have learnt a lot from this event and I hope you learn something too. I don’t remember a lot when the Coronavirus started but I remember watching the news and seeing that something was happening in China. The coronavirus came in December 2019 when people began to have symptoms in China. At first I didn't really know what was happening so I didn’t really pay attention. The first confirmed case in Australia was on the 25th of January 2020 in Victoria when a man arrived back after being overseas.Australian borders were closed to non-residents on March 20th and the social distancing rule began on March 21st. The most cases were in New South Wales in Australia. Lots of things changed because of COVID-19. Our schools closed in late March and we had tasks on Google Classroom.I didn’t not really like doing online school..We started going one day a week which led to us going back everyday but we still had to social distance.I have learnt a lot from this experience such as we cannot predict what will happen in the future and things may just happen that are unpredictable but you just have to adapt. At first I was a little anxious about the situation because everything was happening very fast but as things got calmer and I understood what was happening I wasn’t as anxious. I hope this text about my experience of COVID-19 has given you an idea about what it was like during this time. Regards Eloise
