Covid-19 Crisis During this crisis my family has been very confused and scared, covid-19 has prevented us from a lot of things like sports, shops, going to school and seeing family members. This has been a scary time for our grandparents, parents and us children. To prevent covid from spreading we use hand sanitizer to disinfect our hands and washing our hands with soap before eating and after eating so we don’t get sick. When we go to visit our family and friends we NEED to keep our distance from others even though we don’t have the flu or a runny nose. Something that I personally think is bad about this crisis, is that we don’t get to see our family or friends we can only communicate over the phone or if we keep our distance which is 1.5 meters away from others. Something that I have liked about this is that while being at home and doing school work, I get more work done than I do at school.

This COVID-19 pandemic is changing our daily lives. I have online learning instead of going to school, and I don't get to see my friends since I'm at home. It has been very lonely at home, only seeing my family. But it has been good to spend more time as a family. We have played board games together, cooking together, and having a lot of fun. Overall, I think this pandemic is not a good thing for people who have caught the virus or has lost someone due to the virus. I personally did not lose any family member because of this pandemic, but I do feel really sorry for the people who did. I also would like to thank the front line workers who work every day to help us reduce the number of cases of COVID-19. It is a hard time for all of us, but we know that we are not alone, we are together.

Even though COVID 19 has us locked in our houses, we can't see our friends and family face-to-face and school is online now, I can't help but feel really grateful for living in such an amazing country. We constantly talk about COVID 19, whether it be on the news or with our friends. We talk about how horrible it is, and how we should stock up on toilet paper and food, stay indoors and practise social distancing. But do we ever stop to think about how lucky we are? Australia has been doing such an amazing job at battling this pandemic. Cases have decreased drastically ever since we started social distancing and following the new rules and restrictions that have been set. We still have our classes, even if they are online. We can still communicate with our friends through social media. We have amazing doctors and nurses who are working tremendously hard to help people who have COVID 19 and keep our communities safe. I believe that Australia has become stronger as a country because of this pandemic. We have learnt to work as a team to stop the spread, we have built stronger connections with our friends and family when talking to them online and everyone has been looking out for each other more than ever. So, yes. I know that the Coronavirus has changed our lives drastically, and put our country to the test, but every cloud has a silver lining.

“The first death for Coronavirus was found in Wuhan.” I heard this on the news. Thinking that it was a random virus and only one person has died. “We have found more than 100 people who have caught coronavirus. Masks are compulsory.” Even though I heard the news about coronavirus I still didn’t think it was serious. “Wuhan is in lockdown because of coronavirus. They are trying to build a new hospital for the patients.” I was shocked. I had never heard of locking down a country. I suddenly realised Coronavirus was serious. A Few months later people couldn’t go anywhere they wanted, people couldn’t go to school, work or anything. I was scared. People started to fight for toilet paper, hand sanitiser and they kept buying things to prepare for lockdown. I don’t know how or why the world had turned into this disaster. But this wasn’t the end… “An Asian girl was walking down the street and was injured because of some people. They kicked her, punched her and spit on her because of the reason for being Asian and were called mean things because they thought she brought COVID-19 here.” Racism was happening. I started to shiver in fear. Why did COVID-19 come? I imagined a world with happiness and fun, now it’s all bullying, fighting, racism. I couldn’t believe it! My routine became the same, tedious. Online school, lunch, exercise, study, sleep. Everyday I repeated the same routine. This is not fun at all. Now there are 4.71M cases of COVID-19 found world wide. In these kinds of situations I believe that we have to stay strong and not be like who we are not. I think we should learn how to cooperate with others and understand others.

My name is Yameena Mubarak and I'm from Sydney, NSW. I am 12 and I'm in year 7 at St George Girls High School. When COVID-19 hit we were all recommended to stay home and home school, and as so, I did it as well. At first I was excited to homeschool as that meant I could sleep in and still be at my desk on time, but really it didn't seem as fun as I envisioned. I couldn't physically see my friends or ask my teachers for help and get an answer/explanation I would get if I were at school. What kept me motivated to put up with this was that, I'm doing it for the better by staying at home. I miss my friends a lot more than I expected which meant facetiming each other everyday. It's not as good as physically seeing them, but that's the best for now. Since Australia is managing to decrease the number of COVID-19 cases, children would start going back to school once a week. I was super excited about this as I would get to see my friends and my teachers, as my parents weren't really meant to be teachers. Quarantine taught my a few things as well, I learned that I had a huge passion for cooking, I baked so many things during quarantine I can't even count. It also taught me how annoying my siblings are, and I'm not even kidding they are so annoying. This has been an overall interesting and overwhelming experience, but I can't wait for it to be over

Ever since the coronavirus started everything has been different, well, I guess at the start of this, december 2019 no one really cared, it was only around April when things started to get worse. Everyone started to go into lockdown, toilet paper wars began ‘who had the most toilet paper?’ Apparently toilet paper heals the coronavirus. Why would anyone want so much?! Anyway, in quarantine it has been really boring, I don't know what to do, mainly because I can't do anything, shops are closing, parks are useless and having friends over is even limited! But on the weekdays I do have some things to do, I've got schoolwork. Schoolwork at home is a whole new experience comparing it to normal, everyday school. I wake up at around 8:00am and get ready, around 8:30am I would sign in and do my attendance for the day, then do my school work for the following 4 hours. I have found that during this experience facetime and online shopping have been my best friends, mainly because i'm not able to go shopping or go to my friends house's. Having my birthday at home in this crisis was quite lonely, even though I got amazing presents I didn't have any family over except the family i already have over. Over all, I think this coronavirus will have some positive effect on me in the future, this being personal hygiene and to get outside and be more active.

My experience about Covid-19 is that I can stay home and finish my work early and it also can come out some positives about this experience, you can have more time with your family and with your pets. On the news it said that a man died from corona virus and you thought it wasn’t a big dill until it spread country to country. People have been going mayhem about corona Virus, toilet paper and hand sanitizer. Another positive is that you can go for bike rides and experience new walks. It is also fun because you can build cubby houses you can also test your imagination which every child should have. Your imagination could do so much in this new experience.

The covid-19 crises has been a different experience for everyone. We have learnt how to social distance, wash our hands properly, hygiene, and many more. Something that I have enjoyed about this experience is getting to spend more time with family and be grateful for the little things in life. Many people miss their friends and other family members that don’t live with each other. I am really excited to see my family and friends after this all ends. I’m enjoying school learning from home I start earlier and finish earlier and then I am able to enjoy the rest of the day. Something that I am not enjoying is not being able to see my friends and family, go to outings and birthday parties, sacraments, special events, school outings and many more. Staying at home has been a big challenge for me in many ways but I have become used to staying at home and spending time with my family. Something that I have learnt during this experience is to be grateful for what you have and to enjoy the simple things in life rather than having to go out every weekend or have it to do something. When we were on stage 3 lockdown only essential workers and schools were open for service but now the restrictions are slowly easing off. Many people have been or are still in isolation which is where we have to stay at home with no one around us and we can’t go outside. People who have been overseas or has been in contact with someone who has/had covid-19 have to be isolated. Many shops have closed and many borders have been shut. Even though this experience has been enjoyable some how I really hope that this crises will all be over soon.

CORONA VIRUS! "Corona virus, corona virus!" What's that sound? Mum must be watching the news again. I lose my dreams every single time because of the news. I walk down the stairs in my pajamas and ask Mum, "what's a pandemic, and what's corona virus?" Mum answers the question with a lllllloooooonnnnnngggggg answer. "A pandemic is a type of thing that is a series of a virus that goes on and on". Like mum! A FEW WEEKS LATER... "Dad when can we go up to Brisbane to see Nana and Grandma"? "We can only see them when this all settles down. We can't risk getting sick or getting them sick." While we were all stuck at home some other Australians were stuck in other states not able to even see their Mum and Dad. FIVE WHOLE MONTHS... CLANG! CLANG! CLANG! "What are you doing Mum and Dad?" "We're packing for Brisbane" "YYYYYYYYYYIIIIIIIIIIPPPPPPEEEEEEEEEE!" Will 2020 always stay like this? I hope things will keep getting better.
